Alec Cowles

Coast and Community Program Hydrologist, Pontchartrain Conservancy

Alec was born and raised in Oakland, CA. In 2017, he received his B.S. in Biology with minors in Environmental and Political Science from McGill University in Montréal, QC, Canada, and then came to Louisiana for his M.S. in Coastal and Ecological Engineering at LSU in 2021 (and was a member of their Ice Hockey team!). He is a hydrologist on PC’s Coast & Community program and brings this knowledge to the MRD’s Science committee. Alec is an avid birder and general naturalist who enjoys hiking, biking, and getting muddy. Following Hurricane Ida, he has been active in Mutual Aid Disaster Relief (MADR). He is also bilingual in English/French (Québécois), and proficient in Spanish.
