Take the pledge to make a difference:
As a Louisiana resident, I know that coastal land loss is a critical problem for all of us. Our disappearing coast is an environmental and economic crisis that puts our communities, jobs and way of life at risk. We need elected officials who share this concern and are committed to protecting and restoring our coast, for the people, wildlife and industries that call Louisiana home. I strongly believe it is crucial to support long-lasting, science-based coastal restoration efforts as outlined in the state’s Coastal Master Plan.
I pledge to vote in the upcoming elections and urge all candidates to support the following restoration principles:
- Be a Voice for Coastal Restoration Progress:
Louisiana needs leaders who will be a powerful voice for and a constant reminder of the importance of restoring our coast and protecting our communities, homes, infrastructure and natural resources from the effects of hurricanes, floodwaters and other disasters. - Protect Existing and Secure Future Coastal Restoration Funding:
Louisiana needs leaders that protect the Coastal Trust Fund for its intended use of coastal restoration and protection, while seeking new and innovative coastal restoration funding opportunities via private and public sources. - Support the Coastal Master Plan:
Louisiana needs leaders that will continue the momentum generated by the 2012 Coastal Master Plan and Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, with a strong commitment to prioritizing the range of long-lasting, science-based coastal restoration projects, including those that harness the resources of the Mississippi River to build new land; seeing those projects through to completion; and making sure Louisianians’ voices are heard.
