Derelict Crab Trap Removal Program

Ongoing 9:00 am – 1:00 pm until 3/31

For this event, we need volunteers to work aboard the boats, as well as land-based volunteers to help unload and dispose of the derelict traps. Boat volunteers will be pulling up crab traps (up to 40 lbs) and identifying/releasing estuarine species. Boat volunteers are ideally comfortable handling and identifying fish, as well as possessing beginning boater safety skills. All volunteers should be prepared to get wet and dirty. To take advantage of daylight hours, we will ask boat volunteers to get an early start, while land-based volunteers will start mid-morning.
