George Washburn
Wetland Ecologist, Pontchartrain Conservancy
George (he/him/his) is from Greenville, SC. He attended North Carolina State University for his undergraduate studies and received a B.S. in Zoology. He then moved to New Orleans and later attended Tulane University, where he received his master’s degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. He will complete his Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences with a minor in Applied Statistics in the spring of 2023. How bald cypress trees react to abiotic stresses commonly associated with restoration work is the focus of his graduate work, and he is continuing said work at Pontchartrain Conservancy.
He lives in River Ridge with his wife, kids, dog, and tortoise. He enjoys reading, writing, and playing video games in his free time.
