The 2017 Master Plan is the road map that will guide Louisiana’s efforts to protect the coast over the next 50 years. As the plan comes up for a vote, our best weapon is your voice!

Help us tell the story of our coast so legislators across the state can make the easy choice: to pass the master plan. 

Everyone’s interactions with Louisiana’s coast is different, so we expect your stories to be, too. Here are a few ideas to help you tell your story.

• A tweet using the hashtag #OurCoast to expressing concerns you have for your children growing up in coastal Louisiana.
• A short story about fond memories you have of coastal Louisiana and why protecting Louisiana’s wetlands is important to you.
• A paragraph about how the coast has changed since you were a kid and how the coastal crisis could impact your children and grandchildren. 
• A quick photo that illustrates the changing coast or showing why the coast is important to you.

An overwhelming 95 percent of Louisiana voters say Louisiana’s coastal areas and wetlands are important to them personally. Through the Coastal Master Plan, we have an opportunity like never before to get things done for the people, wildlife and jobs that depend on a healthy, sustainable coast.

Our coast unites everyone who lives in Louisiana. From businesses who depend on the coast and ports as an economic driver, to families passing their coastal heritage down to future generations, to first generation Louisianans who have fallen in love with our great cities and culture, to home owners across the coast who fear the loss of protection against storm surge and flooding, protecting our coastal areas is a top priority.
